The store has been closed for exactly one week and I am almost ready to begin the settling in process – settling in to a home-based business, having no set hours, writing a book, being a grandma.
But before I can do all of the above, we have to settle in to our home again. Closing a bookstore and moving the inventory to the house has created some interesting challenges as to where everything should go. My office currently has 3 computers set up (with accompanying monitors, printers, scanners, receipt printer, label printer, external hard drives, modem, router, etc.), plus 2 filing cabinets and multiple floor-to-ceiling bookshelves filled with inventory. My poor husband has graciously given up a substantial amount of his garage space for boxes and boxes and boxes. And our dining room table is covered with yet more boxes. It will take time to sort it all out.
The optimistic side of this is that we have vacated the store and all that is left is cleaning and a few odds and ends. The hard part is behind us.
We had a few of our regular customers pop their heads in from time to time during the past week, just to see how the move was going and to wish us well. That meant a lot.
And now . . .
. . . time to enjoy this long weekend!
Thanks for the update, Wendy. I don't know how you and Wayne will adjust to all the boxes in your house, but I'm sure you'll figure it out. I look forward to ongoing updates around how you're doing and what you're up to.What an exciting time you are about to enter.
