I am full of joy and excitement and sadness and peace – a reflecting day.
Joy.
I am so blessed to have witnessed the birth of our 5th grandchild last night! Nikolas William Case Cottrell entered the world at 10:40 pm on May 28, 2009, weighing in at 7 lb 13 oz – a good size for being two weeks early. Kelsey was amazing during the whole labour and delivery, and Seth coached her all the way through. And now we have another perfect little grandchild to add to our collection.
Excitement.
I am looking forward to the fun we will have with Nikolas, seeing him grow up and make a place for himself in our family. He will also find his place in the family of God as he becomes a man of destiny – called and chosen for a specific purpose. Nikolas – his name means Victor of the People. How awesome is that?
Sadness.
As I watched Seth and Kelsey with their little son last night, I was overcome with a momentary sadness. My Dad – Papa – would have been so thrilled about Nikolas’ arrival. How he loved the kids! It was kind of bittersweet to think that Nikolas was born in the same hospital where Dad passed away nearly two years ago.
Peace.
Mommy and Baby are doing fine. The rest of our family is happy and healthy. Life is good.
Thank you, Lord, for Your awesome peace.
Congratulations Grandma!!! It sounds like you got to be right there. That is amazing isn’t it, and for it to be your grandson I can’t image how exciting that must be! And the sadness, I understand a little. He is our comforter isn’t he!Enjoy the new grandbaby!
