Everything Happens at Once

Have you ever had one of those weeks when everything happens at once? I can see you’re all nodding your heads, so you know what I’m talking about.

Last week provided me with many opportunities to become stressed out and consumed by problems. I felt overwhelmed, beaten down, inadequate, and defeated. I allowed comments from others to hurt me, and circumstances to drag me down. And I cried. A lot.

Doesn’t that sound like a victorious Christian?

Then I realized that my reaction, and subsequent behaviour, was actually conveying the belief that my circumstances were somehow exceptional, and that it was okay not to trust God with everything that was going on in my life. How arrogant is that?

Jesus never begs us to give Him some small part of ourselves. He commands everything from His followers. No secret compartments. No personal agendas. He wants it all.

Even though we have glimpses of God’s holiness, we are still dumb enough to forget that life is all about God and not about us at all. How is it even possible that we live as though it is about us? The whole point of our life on earth is to point to God. Whatever we are doing, He wants to be glorified, because the whole thing is His.

We need to get over ourselves.

And stop living a selfish life, forgetful of our God.

He is everything!

  1. Although we never know what all goes on behind your closed doors, I appreciate you being strong when I needed someone to be. I love you!
