Amidst the Thanksgiving festivities today, this conversation with Caleb intrigued me.
Caleb: Mommy, am I brave?
Mommy: Yes, I think you’re pretty brave.
Caleb: Am I brave of dragons?
Mommy: Yes, you’re brave of dragons because they aren’t real.
Caleb: Am I brave of dragons in my dreams?
Mommy: I don’t know. Are you?
Caleb: Well, I’m really brave of green dragons.
Mommy: Why?
Caleb: Because they only have one neck and an ordinary tail. They aren’t very scary.
Mommy: Okay.
Caleb: I’m a little bit brave of yellow dragons.
Mommy: Why?
Caleb: Because they have two necks and a sort of bigger tail. They are sort of scary.
Mommy: Oh.
Caleb: But I’m not brave of orange dragons at all. They are very scary.
Mommy: Why?
Caleb: Because they have three necks and a kind of long snakey tail. And they squirt fire out of their mouth.
Mommy: Oh. I didn’t know that.
Caleb: Yep. It’s true.
Caleb’s imagination never ceases to amaze me. I think he has the makings of a fine storyteller!
