It’s a gorgeous autumn Saturday. The sky is clear and the mountains are gloriously majestic. The beautiful calm outside makes it difficult to imagine what people in Texas are experiencing at this very moment in the wake of Hurricane Ike. Fear, panic, uncertainty. I think my Grandmother in Saskatoon must be feeling the same right now, for very different reasons. She had a massive stroke last night. Grandma is 95 years old and has always been healthy, strong, and alert – fiercely protective of her family, and very creative in her methods to make sure the right thing is done. This stroke comes as a shock to me, and probably even more so to her. I don’t even know what else to say.
